Trude Havik is a Professor at the Learning and Environmental Research Centre at the University of Stavanger, Norway. Her background is in special education, and her research focuses on school absenteeism, particularly school refusal, as well as classroom interactions, student engagement, bullying, and friendship. She is especially interested in how students experience safety, mastery, and meaning at school, and how mental health and home environments influence their well-being. Trude is part of the Norwegian research team conducting an RCT study of the Back2School program and has been a member of the International Network for School Attendance (INSA) since its founding in 2018.
